Today officially marks the beginning of a new chapter in the storied history of the BIG EAST Conference. Seton Hall, along with Creighton, Butler, DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, Providence, St. John's, Villanova and Xavier embark on an exciting new endeavor, carrying with them the more than 30 years of rich history and tradition of the BIG EAST Conference.
It is truly an exciting time for Seton Hall University and all 10 BIG EAST members. With the official hiring of Val Ackerman as BIG EAST commissioner, the conference's landmark media rights deal with Fox Sports, and the continuation of holding the BIG EAST men's basketball championship at the world's most famous arena, Madison Square Garden, the future of the BIG EAST is as bright as when it was founded in 1979.
Today Seton Hall University Director of Athletics Patrick Lyons shares his thoughts on all of the changes taking place and how Seton Hall sits in a position of strength heading into this new era of its athletic history.
Welcome to the new BIG EAST!
