Monday, July 1 officially marks the beginning of a new chapter in the storied history of the BIG EAST Conference. Through a series of features that will appear each day this week, SHUPirates.com will provide a snapshot of Seton Hall  and its place as a founding member of the league, marking the Pirates' accomplishments over the first three-plus decades and outlining the vision for the future.
Today's feature includes a first-hand perspective of where the conference has been and where it is going from a diverse cross-section of current Seton Hall coaches, all experienced, Pirates well-versed in life in the BIG EAST.
A prominent figure at Seton Hall for more than four decades and one of the preeminent names in all of collegiate athletics, cross country coach John Moon has been at the helm for the Pirates throughout the entire existence of the conference.
As the league looks toward the start of a new era, Moon joined former Pirate standouts turned SHU coaches Rob Sheppard '92 of baseball, men's soccer's Gerson Echeverry '94, associate head men's basketball coach Shaheen Holloway '00, and volleyball assistant Allie Matters '10 in recalling the many factors that led to the conference's rise to national acclaim, exploring the relationship between Seton Hall and the conference, reliving their own fondest moments and expressing excitement for the future.
