
Lally, Pirates Place Fourth at Wildcat Invitational

GALLOWAY, N.J. – Senior David Lally (Wicklow, Ireland) placed fourth overall and helped lead the Seton Hall men's golf team to a fourth-place team finish at the Wildcat Spring Invitational on Tuesday.

Lally was the most-consistent Pirate throughout the two-day event, using three birdies on Tuesday to fuel a second-straight 2-over-par, 73. For the tournament, he placed fourth among 72 individual golfers with a 7-over-par, 74-73-73-220. It's Lally's fifth career top-5 finish and the second during his senior year

Georgetown's Carson Erick won the individual title at 3-over-par.

As a team, The Hall struggled a bit in round three, firing its least-accurate round of the tournament, a 19-over-par, 303. The Pirates finished at 45-over-par for the tournament with a 298-296-303-897, just one stroke behind third-place Navy. Host Villanova won the tournament by two strokes over fellow BIG EAST competitor Georgetown.

Sophomore Will Hennessee (Tulsa, Okla.) narrowly missed a top-10 finish, using a 2-over-par, 73, in round three to rocket 15 spots up the individual leader board. For the tournament, he placed 11th with an 11-over-par, 75-76-73-224.

Seton Hall's freshmen Blake Goodnight (Dallas, Texas) and Jace Hulett (Boerne, Texas) each struggled a bit in Tuesday's final round. Goodnight shot a 7-over-par, 78, to finish in a tie for 15th place with a 13-over-par, 73-75-78-226. Hulett carded an 8-over-par, 79, on Tuesday and settled with a 20th place tie at 14-over-par with a 76-72-79-227.

Junior Eli Shah (Newtown Square, Pa.) had an eagle on the par-4, No. 12 hole in round three, but finished with a 9-over-par, 80. For the tournament, he finished with a 26-over-par, 79-80-80-239.

Two Pirates were competing as individuals at Galloway National. Both sophomore Luke Nolan (Austin, Texas) and junior Isaiah Williams (Flemington, N.J.) shot a 5-over-par, 76, on Tuesday. For the tournament, Nolan finished tied for 26th place overall with a 15-over-par, 80-72-76-228. Williams was just two strokes worse at 17-over-par with a 76-78-76-230.
