
Pirates Head to Princeton for Final Tune Up Before BIG EAST

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Seton Hall men's golf team will return to action on Saturday for the first two of three rounds of action at the Princeton Invitational at Springdale Golf Club, April 11-12.

THE COURSE
Dating back to 1895, Springdale Golf Club is one of the oldest in New Jersey. Designed by Gerard Lambert and revised by William Flynn in 1926, the walkable course requires precision shot-making and has superior conditions and playability. The property, which was originally private farmland, was purchased by the Class of 1886 and gifted to Princeton University with the expectation of establishing one of the first courses in the region. The private club has a close relationship with the University, and counts many university professors, administrators and students among its members.  With a fine and experienced PGA staff, the club hosts numerous tournaments, collegiate matches, clinics and golf outings every year.Â

THE FIELD
In addition to Seton Hall and host Princeton, the field features teams from Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Penn, Rider, Saint Joseph's, Temple and Yale. BIG EAST opponent Georgetown is also in the field.

LAST TIME OUT
Senior David Lally (Wicklow, Ireland) placed fourth overall and helped lead the Seton Hall men's golf team to a fourth-place team finish at the Wildcat Spring Invitational on Tuesday. Lally was the most-consistent Pirate throughout the two-day event, using three birdies on Tuesday to fuel a second-straight 2-over-par, 73. For the tournament, he placed fourth among 72 individual golfers with a 7-over-par, 74-73-73-220. It's Lally's fifth career top-5 finish and the second during his senior year

As a team, The Hall struggled a bit in round three, firing its least-accurate round of the tournament, a 19-over-par, 303. The Pirates finished at 45-over-par for the tournament with a 298-296-303-897, just one stroke behind third-place Navy. Host Villanova won the tournament by two strokes over fellow BIG EAST competitor Georgetown.

LAST TIME AT SPRINGDALE
Will Hennessee (Tulsa, Okla.) shot a 1-under-par, 70, in the final round to help lift the Seton Hall men's golf team to a third-place team finish at the Princeton Invitational in last year's event. Hennessee had five birdies and eight pars to fuel Seton Hall's top individual round.Â

As a team, Seton Hall was only one stroke worse in round three, shooting a 7-over-par, 291. For the event, The Hall placed third with a 13-over-par, 290-291-581. Princeton won the team title after shooting 7-under-par in round two. The Tigers were 2-under-par for the tournament. Seton Hall's lone BIG EAST competition, Georgetown, placed sixth at 16-over-par.

Seton Hall's top individual golfer for the tournament was David Lally (Wicklow, Ireland). The individual leader in the clubhouse after 18 holes, Lally used three birdies to shoot a 2-over-par, 73, in round three. He finished second among 75 individual golfers with a 2-under-par, 67-73-140.Â

The teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

The field will play 36 continuous holes on Saturday and one final round on Sunday. Play begins with a tee times starting at 7:45 am on Saturday.  Sunday's final round will start with a shotgun at 10:00 a.m.Â
