PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior David Lally (Wickow, Ireland) fired a 2-under-par, 69, on Sunday to lift the Seton Hall men's golf team to a fourth-place finish at the Princeton Invitational.
Â
Lally had three birdies and 14 pars in route to the top Seton Hall round on Sunday. It's his 24th career sub-par round, which ranks seventh-most in program history. For the tournament, Lally tied for 10th place among 75 individual golfers with a 2-over-par, 76-70-69-215. It's also his sixth career top-10 finish.
Â
As a team, Seton Hall had two dramatically different results on the front nine versus the back nine. The Pirates started on the back nine in round three, and were collectively 9-under-par and rocketed up the team leader board. On the front nine, however, The Hall was 10-over-par. For the round, Seton Hall shot a 1-over-par, 285. For the tournament, the Pirates placed fourth with a 21-over-par, 304-284-285-873.
Â
Harvard was the lone team to shoot under par for the tournament and won the team title at 3-under-par, six strokes ahead of Georgetown.
Â
Blake Goodnight (Dallas, Texas) got off to a remarkable start in round three. After bogeying his first two holes, the freshman birdied six of his next seven. Unfortunately, he was 4-over-par on the front nine, but still finished with a solid even-par, 71. For the tournament, he tied for 14th place overall, only one stroke behind Lally with a 3-over-par, 77-68-71-216.
Â
Freshman Jace Hulett (Boerne, Texas) turned in his best round of the tournament on Sunday. He was 3-under-par on his first nine holes, and 3-over-par on his second nine for an even-par, 71. For the tournament, Hulett tied for 27th place with a 7-over-par, 74-75-71-220.Â
Â
Graduate student George Fricker (Woodbridge, England) and sophomore Will Hennessee (Tulsa, Okla.) finished the tournament tied for 48th place at 13-over-par with a 226. Fricker tallied a second-straight 3-over-par, 74, in round three. He finished the tournament with a 78-74-74-226. Hennessee shot a 6-over-par, 77, on Sunday, and carded a 77-72-77-226 for the weekend.
Â
Competing as an individual, junior Eli Shah (Newtown Square, Pa.) turned in his second-consecutive 1-over-par, 72, thank to three birdies and 12 pars. For the two-day event, he was 9-over-par with a 78-72-72-222.
