DeMarco, Dupuis Secure Pirates' Series Win Over UConn

How It Happened
- Like the day prior, UConn struck with force in the top of the first. What began with a solo home run turned into a four-run first inning to put The Hall in an early hole.
- Unlike yesterday, however, the Pirates applied pressure of their own as soon as they reached the plate. After getting two runners on base with one out, Naya Martinez, Erin Howard and Loreale Blake drove in back-to-back-to-back to make it a 4-3 game after one full inning.
- In the second inning, Friday's hero Katey Brennan returned to the plate with two runners on and one out. The junior rocketed a double into right centerfield, scoring two runners and putting The Hall in front 5-4.
- As the innings progressed, Seton Hall's offense finally dealt its defining blow in the bottom of the fourth inning. After a pair of runners reached base with one out, the Huskies turned to their bullpen in search of a new face to quell the Pirates' offense. Two pitches later, Sophia DeMarco sent the ball flying far over the wall in left centerfield, expanding their lead to 8-4.
- While this offensive explosion occurred, junior pitcher Karissa Dupuis was dominating UConn in the circle. After running into trouble during the first inning, not a single Husky reached base for the next four innings, aiding The Hall's search for a win.
- While the Pirates' offense began to stall, the onus fell onto Dupuis and the Pirates' defense to secure the win. After escaping a bases-loaded jam in the sixth, a stray solo home run to open the seventh caused a minor stir in the crowd. However, three straight UConn batters sent balls right at Pirate defenders, leading The Hall to an 8-5 win.
- With the wins, the Pirates move to 10-11 on the season and 2-4 in BIG EAST play.
- This was The Hall's first series win over the Huskies since 2013.
- Dupuis recorded her second career seven-inning complete game.
- With one hit today, Perez reached 20 hits this season.
- With three RBI today, DeMarco extended her team-leading tally to 22 RBI.
- She also reached ten runs scored on the season.
- With two RBI today, Brennan surpassed 10 RBI on the season.
- With one run scored, Naya Martinez reached 10 runs scored so far this season.
