ATHENS, GA. – The Seton Hall softball team (1-5) opened play at the Georgia Classic with a pair of losses to No. 12 Georgia, 9-1 in 5 innings, and No. 20 Virginia Tech, 7-2.

How It Happened – Game One vs. Virginia Tech

After failing to convert a bases-loaded position in the top of the second, the Pirates allowed a solo home run to put The Hall down 1-0 early.
As the game approached the final innings, the Pirates faced a 5-0 deficit amid a string of pitching changes. Caroline Hobbes would ground out to drive in a run and make it a 5-1 game in the fifth inning. Christina Ginex drove in the Pirates' second run of the game in the seventh inning, as well.
However, a 7-2 scoreline at the end of the seventh frame resulted in a 2-7 loss for the Pirates.

How It Happened - Game Two vs Georgia

After exchanging 1-2-3 first innings, Georgia plated three in the bottom of the second to put The Hall in a 3-0 hole.
After an Erin Howard single in the third inning, Angelina Benitez drove home a run and make it a 3-1 game.
The Bulldogs responded in the fourth with a three-run inning to make it a 6-1 game.

Despite getting two runners on in the fifth inning, the Pirates were unable to score any additional runs.
Another three-run frame by the Bulldogs ended the game in the fifth, handing Seton Hall a 9-1 loss in five innings.

Benitez has logged a hit in five straight games,
Ginex logged her first career RBI.

The Pirates return to action on February 21, when they continue play at the 23^rd Annual Georgia Classic hosted by the University of Georgia. First pitch for the morning game against Virginia Tech is set for 10:30 a.m.
