Pacheco finished the weekend with seven RBI. Aidan Robbins was 4-for-5 in game two, upping his BIG EAST leading batting average to .420. Kevin Milewski drove in a run in game two to finish the weekend with six RBI.
Seton Hall will return home for the final three games at Mike Sheppard, Sr. Field, taking on Georgetown Friday at 4 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m., and Sunday at 12 p.m.
How Game One Happened
Xavier jumped on the Pirates with four runs in the first inning coming on a three-run home run by Connor Misch followed by a solo shot by Clay Burdette.
The Pirates had a chance to quickly respond, but left the bases loaded in the top of the second.
Tomas Cestero was sharp in relief for the Pirates, allowing just one run in three innings. He struck out five and now have 25 punchouts in 26 innings this season.
Seton Hall scored its lone run of the day in the fourth inning. Milewski drew a walk and was on second base when Pacheco smashed a single to center to bring him home. Pirates trailed 5-1 at that point.
The Pirates put a few more runners on base on the day, but ultimately, Xavier's Ben Weber held the Pirates to one run in a seven-inning complete game.
How Game Two Happened
Seton Hall put up single runs in the second, fourth and fifth innings to build up a 3-1 lead, but the big inning alluded the Pirates. With runners on second and third and one out in the second inning, Pacheco hit a sacrifice fly to score a run. In the fourth it was bases loaded and one out, and Pacheco just missed a grand slam, hitting a ball to the center field warning track for a sacrifice fly. In the fifth, Milewski singled home Robbins to make it 3-1, but left two men on from there.
In the bottom of the fifth, Xavier exploded for six runs on six hits and walk, the big blow a Donavan Canterberry two-run double to make it 7-3.
Seton Hall loaded the bases in the eighth inning, and Robbins managed an infield RBI single, but the Pirates couldn't score more than once.
With Xavier leading 9-4 in the ninth, the Pirates again rallied with an RBI single by Jimmy Brennan plus three Xavier miscues to make it 9-7, but The Hall couldn't finish the comeback.
