SCOUTING WASHINGTON STATE
Washington State is coming off a 21-14 final record in 2024-25, which includes a 14-6 mark in West Coast Conference (WCC) play. The Cougars lost to Portland in the semifinals of the WCC Tournament, but earned a bid to the 2025 WNIT where they defeated Utah Valley before falling to North Dakota State in the Super 16.
Â
This season, the Cougars were picked to finish third in the 12-team WCC according to its Preseason Coaches' Poll. Eleonora Villa was named to the Preseason All-WCC Team. WSU returned six from its 2024-25 roster, including Villa, it's leading scorer, and its leading shot blocker Alex Covil, along with Charlotte Abraham, Marta Alsina, Jean Chiu, and last year's redshirt Keandra Koorits.
Â
Washington State has had a tough start to the 2025-26 season and enters Tuesday's contest with a 1-10 record. The Cougars have dropped four in a row and are coming off an 82-51 drubbing by Texas Tech on Friday. Their lone victory so far this year was against Miami (Ohio) on Nov. 28. Three Cougars are currently averaging double-figures in scoring, led by Villa who has a team-best 16.8 points per contest.
