How it Happened
Carr got into and out of trouble throughout the game. The Huskies got the leadoff batter on and advanced her to third base with one out in the top of the first but failed to score. In the second, UConn loaded the bases with nobody out, but Carr struck out each of the next three batters to keep things scoreless.
Seton Hall's best chance to score came in the fifth inning, which started with a double down the right field line by Lela Allen (Phoenix, Ariz.). After both Caroline Hobbes (Bay Shore, N.Y.) and Andrea Perez (Corona, Calif.) were hit by pitches, the Pirates had the bases loaded with only one out. However, the Pirates could not muster a run as back-to-back strikeouts helped UConn escape the inning.
The Huskies would plate the first runs of the game in the top of the seventh after a pair of RBI singles. The Hall would go down in order in the bottom half to seal the win for the visitors.
News & Notes
- Carr worked all seven innings and struck out six during her outing.
- The Pirates exit the weekend in fifth place in a crowded middle section of the BIG EAST standings with a 10-8 league mark.
The Pirates conclude their 11-game homestand on Tuesday when they host a non-conference doubleheader against Drexel at 2 p.m.
