How it Happened
The offense for the Pirates was steady throughout the day, scoring one run in each of the first five innings. In the bottom of the first, Taylor Hill (Little Falls, N.J.) quickly got Seton Hall on the board with an opposite field home run.

In the second inning, Abby Wingo (Portland, Ore.) led off with a single to centerfield, extending her hitting streak to 13 consecutive games. Later in the frame with the bases loaded, Ashly Colonnetta (Cypress, Texas) would knock a single to left field to score Lauren Caye (Pittsburgh, Pa.) with the second Pirate run of the day.

Wingo would get on base again in the third with a walk, and would come around to score on Gilbert's first of two RBI doubles on the day to make it 3-0. After another scoreless frame in the circle for Carr in the fourth, Lela Allen (Phoenix, Ariz.) would reward her pitcher with another tally as her single in the fourth made it a 4-0 Pirate lead.
In the fifth, Gilbert would once again drive in Wingo from first on a double in the gap. Her shot to right center brought the senior all the way around from first to give the Pirates a 5-0 cushion.

That lead was more than enough for Carr in the circle, as she scattered just three hits across her outing while striking out five. After the first inning, the St. John's offense never had more than one batter reach base in any inning against Carr.
Notes & Numbers
- Wingo's 13-game hitting streak ties Alexis Walkden for the third-longest streak in program history. It is the longest hitting streak by a Pirate since Yasmin Harrell's program-record 16-game streak back in 2016.
- Wingo is batting .486 (17-for-35) with a home run and five RBI during her hitting streak.
- After opening the season batting just .167 (4-for-24) through the first eight games, Wingo is batting .474 (27-for-57) in the 21 games since. She has hits in 20 of her last 21 games.
- Over her last 12 games, Gilbert is batting .432 (16-for-37) with four home runs and 15 RBI.
- Carr has allowed two runs or fewer in each of her last seven outings, and her 1.54 ERA continues to lead the BIG EAST.
- Hill's home run is her fifth of the season, matching her total from her BIG EAST Freshman of the Year award-winning season in 2022.
- Colonnetta's RBI single snapped an 0-for-12 stretch for her.
The Pirates continue their series with St. John's on Saturday afternoon with first pitch slated for 1 p.m.
