Pirates Fall To Creighton On Senior Day

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall softball team (18-29, 4-11 BIG EAST) dropped a tough one on Senior Day, falling in a series finale to Creighton (22-12, 7-2 BIG EAST) by a score of 5-3. Prior to the contest on Sunday afternoon at Mike Sheppard, Sr. Field, The Hall honored its four-member senior class of Alannah Basile, Sara Foster, Alyssa Prukop and Alannah Basile. Each senior got the start in their final home BIG EAST game.

The Pirates are back in action next weekend, visiting Villanova for a three-game BIG EAST series.
How It Happened
- The Pirates wasted no time taking an early lead, driving in three runs all with two away in the bottom of the first
- After Janae Barracato (Hempstead, N.Y.) led the game off with a double, fellow freshman Payton Beaver (Lake Stevens, Wash.) drove her home two batters later with an RBI double of her own
- With Beaver on second, Darby Pandolfo (Massapequa, N.Y.) launched a towering two-run home run to left field that put the Pirates up 3-0
- Creighton got a run back in the top of the second with an RBI single
- In the top of the fifth, CU struck three times with a two-run single to tie before an RBI double gave the Bluejays a 4-3
- Creighton tacked on another run in the top of the seventh and The Hall was unable to muster a comeback in the final frames
- The Pirates were out-hit 10-4 in the setback and committed two errors versus one for CU
- Beaver and Pandolfo both went 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored and combined for all three of SHU's RBIs
- Foster notched a double and reached base twice on her Senior Day
- Barracato's first inning double was her team-high ninth of the year
- Pandolfo homered twice in the Creighton series, also going deep in game one on Saturday
- Reganne Camp (Bloomington, Ill.) took a tough-luck loss, striking out four in her 11th complete game of the season
The Pirates are back in action next weekend, visiting Villanova for a three-game BIG EAST series.
