Pirates Fall At USF on Wednesday Night

TAMPA, Fla. – In its first midweek action of the season, the Seton Hall softball team (11-8) fell by a score of 9-0 in five innings at USF (11-11) on Wednesday night. The contest marked the midway point of The Hall's 11-game spring break trip.

The Pirates return to action this weekend when they take part in the Under Armour Showcase in Clearwater, Fla. The Hall will play five games in three days against South Dakota State, Loyola Chicago, Lehigh, Northern Kentucky and Central Michigan.

- USF took a 2-0 lead with a home run in the bottom of the second, then added three more with a pair of run-scoring singles in the bottom of the third
- The Bulls added four more via a pair of home runs in the bottom of the fifth to enact the run-rule
- The Pirates were out-hit 10-4 in the setback, while neither side recorded an error
- Janae Barracato (Hempstead, N.Y.) and Emily Supercysnki (Aurora, Colo.) both had doubles for The Hall and Payton Beaver (Lake Stevens, Wash.) and Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.) singled
- Barracato's third-inning double was her fifth two-bagger through her first 19 games and her 1-for-2 effort raised her batting average on the season to a team-best .404 mark
- The match-up with USF was the first for the former BIG EAST rivals since the 2013 season
