SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall softball team got solid performances out of its senior class as it celebrated Senior Day before a season-closing doubleheader against St. John's (31-15, 17-4 BIG EAST). The Pirates would ultimately drop both ends of the doubleheader and close their 2017 regular season with an overall record of 22-25-1 and a 7-14 mark in BIG EAST play.
Chelsea Caynon (Litchfield, N.H.) had the biggest senior day moment, crushing her second home of the season to break up a St. John's no-hitter in the bottom of the fifth inning of game one. Joelle Arrante (Elkton, Md.) and Jennifer Sanislo (Whippany, N.J.) both made stellars plays in the field getting the start on Senior Day, while Lauren Fischer (Robbinsville, N.J.) knocked in a run in game two. Valerie Suto (Mercerville, N.J.) had a three-hit effort and stole a base in game two and Noel Lent (Yaphank, N.Y.) also got the start in both games as all six seniors started both contests.
