Morris scored all 13 of her points in the second half of play, knocking down three three-pointers to move within eight treys of tying Seton Hall's all-time career mark of 156.
Simmons scored 10 of her 12 points after the half, nailing a pair of long-range field goals; combined the Pirates' two leading scorers accounted for 23 of the team's 28 second half points.
Jasmine Penny led the Blue Demons with 29 points on 12-of-15 shooting. All 12 of her field goals came under the basket and DePaul finished with a 46-18 advantage inside of the painted area.
Seton Hall's (8-14, 3-6) starting front court of junior Brittany Webb (New York, N.Y.) and senior Alexandra Maseko (Harare, Zimbabwe) scored the Pirates' first eight points of the game. Webb connected twice in the paint and Maseko added two free throws and a layup a few minutes later.
The Pirates seized control of the lead, 10-9, as Simmons grabbed a Morris miss and made a difficult layup seven minutes into the game.
DePaul (17-6, 6-3) answered that Seton Hall lead with an 8-0 run over the next four minutes, powered mostly by Penny who had three field goals over that stretch.
Freshman Tabatha Richardson-Smith (Bay City, Texas) managed to put a stop to the Blue Demons' run of unanswered points, converting a wide open layup seconds after play resumed from a media timeout. However, DePaul's 8-0 run was part of what became a larger 14-2 run over an 8:30 span as the Blue Demons stretched their lead to 24-12.
Seton Hall missed its first 10 three-point field goal attempts in the game before senior Terry Green (Brentwood, N.Y.) nailed a long-range bucket with a little under five minutes left in the first. The three-pointer was one of her two treys of the opening period, and she finished the first half with a team-high six points. After its slow start the Pirates made seven of their next 13 long-range attempts.
DePaul was an efficient 45.2 percent (14-for-31) from the field in the first half, thanks in large part to Penny's 14 points on 6-for-6 shooting, all inside of the paint; the Blue Demons outscored Seton Hall 20-10 inside the painted area and 6-0 on the fast break.
After a scoreless first half, Morris nailed two threes within the first two minutes of the second, pulling Seton Hall within 12, 38-26, with her second trey.
DePaul continued to pound away in the paint and then stretched its lead to more than 20 points for the first time all night as Brittany Hrynko connected from outside, bringing the Blue Demon advantage to 49-27.
Facing its largest deficit of the night the Pirates came up with their longest scoring run of the game, rattling off 12 unanswered points over just 3:25.
Morris and Simmons each knocked down a long-distance bucket and contributed five points apiece during the SHU scoring streak. It was Penny who put an end to the SHU run, scoring layups on back-to-back possessions to allow DePaul to regain its 20-point edge.
Seton Hall returns to action this Saturday, Feb. 9, when it hosts No. 2/3 University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Walsh Gymnasium in South Orange, N.J., at 2 p.m. Saturday's contest will be the Pirates' annual Play 4Kay game to raise breast cancer awareness and benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
