Morris drained three-three pointers as a part of her 15-point performance, moving closer to the Seton Hall all-time record. She already holds the SHU record in career three-point attempts and now has 142 treys, sitting just 14 behind the all-time mark of 156.
Richardson-Smith scored in double figures for the fourth time this season and tied her career high with three long-distance shots. She finished shooting 4-for-9 from the field with six rebounds and a pair of steals in 20 minutes of action.
USF (13-5, 2-3) opened the game with an effective full court press that the Pirates had a difficult time breaking over the first 10 minutes of action. Seton Hall turned the ball over just six times in the opening period, but all six of those giveaways came over the first seven minutes.
The Bulls further limited Seton Hall's offensive opportunities by running the shot clock down on a majority of their early possessions, and South Florida stretched its advantage to 10 points, 19-9, on an Inga Orekhova three pointer.
The Bulls led by as many as 13 in the first half but Seton Hall held USF to just nine points over the final 10 minutes of the period and cut its deficit down to single digits, 26-18, on a Richardson-Smith three pointer with 3:11 to play.
Seton Hall (7-12, 2-4) trailed by 10 points, 30-20, at the intermission and the Pirates' bench accounted for 12 of the team's 20 first half points with Richardson-Smith and senior Terry Green (Brentwood, N.Y.) scoring five points apiece. The Bulls shot 34.5 percent (10-for-29) from the floor in the first, but took advantage of their extra opportunities at the free throw line where they were 8-for-10.
The Pirates quickly made a run to start the second half, cutting the USF lead down to seven points on a Morris trey fewer than 90 seconds into the action. South Florida struck back with a 10-0 run over the next 2:49 to push its lead up to 17.
Junior Brittany Webb (New York, N.Y.) grabbed an offensive rebound and scored on the put back to pull the Pirates to within 14 points with 13:40 remaining, but that was as close as they would come down the stretch.
Seton Hall limited USF to just 36.8 percent (21-for-57) shooting but the Bulls made 19 more trips to the free throw line, shooting 28-for-33 from the stripe, compared to 10-for-14 shooting at the line for The Hall.
Andrea Smith led all scorers with 21 points, hitting a pair of threes and going 7-for-7 from the line, while Alisia Jenkins (15 points) and Courtney Williams (12 points) also finished in double figures for USF.
Seton Hall returns to action on Sunday, Jan. 27, when it hosts Rutgers in Walsh Gymnasium at 2 p.m.
