SCOUTING PROVIDENCE

Â
Providence was picked to finish 10th in 11-team BIG EAST, according to the preseason coaches' poll.Â
Â
Providence enters the weekend with an 8-7 overall record and an 0-4 mark in BIG EAST play. The Friars were an impressive 8-3 in non-conference play, but have dropped all four of their conference contests so far, collecting just one set win combined in losses to DePaul, Marquette, Villanova and Georgetown. Most recently, they fell in Washington, D.C. in four sets. Providence has one of the better defensive front lines in the BIG EAST, leading the conference in blocks per set and ranking second in opponent hitting percentage.
Â
SCOUTING CONNECTICUT
Seton Hall and Connecticut will meet for the 41st time in history on Saturday with the Huskies owning a 24-16 all-time series lead. UConn has won four of the last five meetings including a pair of victories in last year's meetings. The Pirates took the Huskies to four sets in Storrs, but were swept at home.
Â
Connecticut was picked to finish seventh in 11-team BIG EAST, according to the preseason coaches' poll.Â
Â
