SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Four Pirates collected at least two hits as the Seton Hall baseball team outlasted Georgetown, 8-6, in game two of its three-game set on Saturday at Mike Sheppard Sr. Stadium.

As opposed to yesterday, the Pirates' offense struck early today, scoring four runs over the first two innings and Seton Hall never trailed after the top of the first. Marco Ali (Old Westbury, N.Y.) delivered a two-run single in the bottom of the second, and the Pirates took the lead for good.

Ali, Kevin Milewski (Wallingford, Conn.), Nick Ferri (Flemington, N.J.) and Gabe Cavazzoni (Wall, N.J.) all had two hits for The Hall. Milewski and Cavazzoni connected on solo home runs.

Seton Hall starting pitcher Tomas Cestero (Westfield, N.J.) allowed three runs over 4.1 innings with four strikeouts and only one walk in a no decision. Junior John Downing (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) came in during the fifth inning and pitched the remaining 4.2 innings, allowing three runs with four strikeouts and three walks to pick up the victory.

THE STORY:
With the score tied at one, Dylan Pacheco (Dartmouth, Mass.) got the Pirates' offense started with a single to left field. Ferri followed with a double to right field, and Ali knocked them both in by smacking a hard single to left field to give The Hall a 3-1 lead. Three batters later, Justin Ford (Roxbury, N.J.) plated Ali with a sacrifice fly to extend the Pirates' lead to 4-1.

Georgetown cut their deficit to 4-3 in the top of the fifth, but it could've been much worse had Downing not put out the fire. The junior inherited runners on the corners with only one out, but managed to retire the next to batters to maintain The Hall's lead.

Clinging to a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning, The Hall came up with some key insurance. Cavazzoni led off with his first career home run, a towering shot to left field. After Aiden Robbins (Yardly, Pa.) walked and stole second, Ford singled to plate Robbins with the Pirates' seventh run. Two batters later Milewski connected on his 15^th home run of the season to give The Hall an 8-4 advantage.

THE NUMBERS:

Seton Hall out-hit Georgetown, 12-to-9.
Seton Hall committed the lone error in the game.
The Hall left nine men on base, while the Hoyas left seven.
The Pirates were 4-for-12 (.333) with runners in scoring position, while the Hoyas were 3-for-14 (.214).
Ali reached base three times, going 2-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch and two RBIs.
Milewski went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs.
Cavazzoni was 2-for-3 with a home run and a sacrifice bunt.
Ferri went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.
Robbins reached base four times with three walks and a hit-by-pitch. He also had a stolen base and two runs scored.
Cestero allowed three runs on five hits in 4.1 innings on the mound. He had one walk and four strikeouts in a no decision.
Downing got the victory with 4.2 innings of relief, allowing three runs on four hits with four strikeouts and three walks.

THE NOTES:

Seton Hall improves to 22-28 overall and 8-9 in the BIG EAST Conference, while Georgetown drops to 14-37 overall and 2-15 in conference play.
The Hall has now won eight of its last 10 games.
The Pirates improve to 99-33 all-time against Georgetown.
Milewski's home run is his 15^th of the season, which ties him for fifth-most in a single-season all-time at Seton Hall.
Seton Hall had at least 10 hits for the 19^th time this season.
Downing improves to a perfect 6-0 on the season with the victory.
AJ Soldra (Orange, Conn.) has now safely hit in 15 straight BIG EAST games after his seventh inning single today.
