New Providence, N.J. -Â The Seton Hall women's tennis team won all 15 sets that were contested against Providence, resulting in a complete 7-0 sweep over the Friars, Saturday night at Murray Hill Tennis & Fitness.
Seton Hall is now 10-7 on the season, reaching double-digit wins for the first time since 2019.
"Today was a great match for us, the girls came together and gave great energy from start to finish," said head coach James Enzler. "We've talked about staying present and playing just one point at a time and not letting our emotions get the best of us, and we successfully did that tonight. The key now is doing it over and over; we can't just do it when we want. This intensity has to be brought to every single practice and match. If we can do that, we can make something special."
The Pirates swept all three doubles matches for just the second time this season and did it with relative ease as the tandems of Paige Wise and Niamh Campbell and Isabelle May and Anastasia Sereda both posted 6-2 wins over their opponents to secure the team point. Tamsin Hart and Rachel Benoualid then closed out doubles with a 7-5 win.
Hart was the first to win in singles, defeating Mae Abreu in the No. 4 position, 6-1, 6-0, as she improved to 9-4 in spring singles. May then defeated Allison Root by the same exact score in the No. 5 position, and she upped her spring singles mark to 10-2.
Benoualid then clinched team victory for Seton Hall when she topped Lauren Carson, 6-3, 7-5, in the No. 6 spot.Â
Wise, Sereda and Imogen Brooker were also straight-set winners for the Pirates.
Seton Hall will hit the road next week with matches against St. Francis on Friday and Mount St. Mary's on Saturday.
