Orlando, Fla. - The Seton Hall women's tennis team battled Creighton tough through the singles matches, but the Bluejays came away victorious, 5-2, Tuesday at USTA National Campus. Aina Plana Ventosa and Arabella Moen picked up the two singles wins for the Pirates, and Plana Ventosa improved to 7-0 in spring singles.
"The girls battled really well today," said head coach James Enzler. "There's definitely some things in doubles we need to work on, but I thought we fought well in singles. We are overall a young team, and we're only going to continue to get stronger, so I'm excited for the future of this team."
Plana Ventosa was leading Ana Paula Martinez in No. 3 singles, 6-3, 3-6, 4-2, when Martinez retired. Plana Ventosa extended her spring singles winning streak to a career-best seven matches.
Moen dispatched Allison Wilcox at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-4, to earn her second singles win of the spring.
The Pirates nearly picked up a third win as Niamh Campbell went three sets Siri Kongara in the No. 4 position.
Seton Hall will conclude the three-match spring break schedule with a matchup against Saint Joseph's Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.
