LAST GAME
The Seton Hall women's basketball team shot only 20.8 percent from the floor in the second half as Villanova was able to pull away for a 69-41 victory on Saturday.

The Hall trailed by 10 at the half, but most of the game's metrics including team shooting, rebounding and turnovers remained relatively close at halftime. However, the Wildcats started the third quarter with a 12-0 run and their defense stymied the Pirates in the second half. The Hall was 0-for-13 from three-point range for the game, while Villanova was 7-for-21.

Graduate student Azana Baines (Blackwood, N.J.) finished with a team-best 10 points. Kae Satterfield (New York, N.Y.) had nine points, four rebounds and two steals.

Seton Hall and Villanova will renew their long BIG EAST rivalry on Wednesday. The Huskies own a 58-10 all-time series lead and has won the last 38 games in the series, including the first meeting of the teams this season. The Hall's last win in the series came in Walsh Gym on Jan. 5, 1994. The Pirates last win on the road over Connecticut came on Feb. 11, 1984.

Graduate student Azana Baines (Blackwood, N.J.) had 17 points and the Pirates played No. 9 Connecticut closely for three quarters, but faded late in an 83-59 loss on Jan. 17.

The Hall led after the first quarter and cut its deficit to only nine points with 8:08 left in the game, but ran out of gas late in a highly-physical contest.

Baines had team-highs of 17 points, six rebounds and three blocks. Graduate student Brazil Harvey-Carr (Camden, N.J.) came off the bench and contributed 13 points on the strength of 4-for-7 shooting from three-point range.

Connecticut was picked to repeat as champion of the 11-team BIG EAST according to the 2023-24 Coaches Preseason Poll. Paige Bueckers is the BIG EAST Preseason Player of the Year.

UConn continues to dominate the BIG EAST, entering Wednesday's contest as the No. 11 ranked team in the country with a 19-4 overall record and a perfect 11-0 mark in conference play. Most recently, the Huskies defeated St. John's, 78-63, on Wednesday. Six Huskies are currently averaging at least 9.5 points per game, led by Bueckers who ranks second in the BIG EAST at 20.3 points per contest.
