
Late Goal Helps Marist Draw With Seton Hall, 1-1

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - Senior Brina Micheels (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) scored her first goal of the season just before halftime but Marist came up with a goal in the 85th minute to draw with the Seton Hall women's soccer team, 1-1, on Sunday afternoon.
The Pirates (3-2-1) out-shot Marist, 17-10, and finished with more shots on goal, 8-5. Seton Hall keeper Morgan Fedosiewich (Ottawa, Ontario) finished with a season-high four saves on 10 shots faced.
How It Happened
It was a one-sided affair on the scoresheet in favor of The Hall through the first 45 minutes of the contest. The Pirates were up 9-5 in shots taken as the clock went past 40 minutes. In the 41st, senior Skyler Matusz (Kearny, N.J.) possessed the ball along the goal line in the Pirates' attacking third when she found Micheels in stride in the scoring area. Micheels converted, giving herself her first goal of the season and Seton Hall a 1-0 lead.
After halftime, the Red Foxes made some key adjustments that kept the Pirate attack at bey and they put up more scoring chances. The shot total was more equal in the second stanza where the Pirates finished up 6-5. But in the 85th minute, Marist drew a foul outside the 18-yard box that resulted in a free kick. Marist went for goal and slotted it in the top left corner to tie the score at 1-1.
