Omaha, Neb. — The Seton Hall women's soccer team lost a match for the first time in more than two weeks on Thursday evening as the Pirates dropped a 2-0 result at Creighton.
The loss snaps Seton Hall's four match unbeaten streak in conference play, its longest streak since 1997 when the Pirates started 7-0 before finishing 9-2 against BIG EAST teams.
At eight points in the BIG EAST standings with three games remaining, The Hall is still in solid position to finish in the top six and qualify for the BIG EAST Tournament for the first time since 2011.
How It Happened
Creighton controlled the match in the first 45 minutes where they put up four shots and tow shots on goal. The Bluejays posted shots in the seventh and eighth minutes before striking in the ninth minute, giving them a 1-0 lead. Junior Natalie Tavana (Middletown, Conn.) tallied the Pirates' first shot of the game in the 30th and later freshman Megan Twomey (Oakland, N.J.) came on as a sub and put up a shot that was off target.
Seton Hall came out of the second half with a couple of quality chances, first from Tavana that was saved by the Creighton keeper and later by junior Sophie Liston (Newcastle West, Ireland). However, the Bluejays doubled their tally in the 56th minute and the Pirates weren't able to equalize.
