The Hall gets back in the win column and secures a season sweep of local rival St. John's.
QUEENS, N.Y. – Senior Lauren Park-Lane (Wilmington, Del.) erupted for a game-high 31 points and Azana Baines (Blackwood, N.J.) had a double-double as the Seton Hall women's basketball team snapped a four-game losing streak with an impressive 68-58 road victory at St. John's on Tuesday.

Seton Hall trailed for only 1:11 of the contest and earned a hard-fought sweep of the Red Storm during the season-series. This was St. John's first loss of the season at Carnesecca Arena (12-1).

Park-Lane poured in 25 of her game-high 31 points as the Pirates set the tone in the first half. Baines tallied her second double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Sidney Cooks (Kenosha, Wis.) also had 14 points to go with six rebounds.Â

Senior Mya Bembry (West Orange, N.J.) pulled down a career-high 15 rebounds and blocked two shots while playing all 40 minutes.

THE STORY:
The Hall charged out of the gate with one of its best stretches in the last two weeks. Park-Lane scored seven of the Pirates first nine points and The Hall claimed a 9-2 lead by the media break of the first quarter. The Hall held St. John's to just 2-for-8 shooting in the first 10 minutes and took a 13-9 lead into the second.

Both offenses woke up in the second quarter and St. John's rallied to take a 26-25 lead with 4:25 left before halftime. The Hall responded with an 8-0 run, and a three-pointer by Cooks gave it a 33-26 advantage with 2:19 to go before the break. St. John's Sitota Gines hit a three-pointer, but the Pirates finished the half with seven straight points to run its half-ending run to 15-3. Park-Lane hit a three-pointer at the halftime buzzer to give her 25 points through 20 minutes and send The Hall into halftime up, 40-29.

The Hall started the third quarter just 2-for-13 from the field, but because the Pirates defense remained stout, they were able to keep their lead. Up 49-43, Cooks hit a three-pointer and then drained a turnaround jumper at the third-quarter buzzer to send The Hall into the fourth up, 54-43.

A layup by Cooks with 8:58 left in the fourth gave The Hall its largest lead of the game, 58-43, but St. John's responded with a 6-0 run to cut its lead to nine. In the final four minutes, the Red Storm twice cut their deficit to just five points, but the Pirates went 4-for-4 from the free-throw line in the final minute to clinch the road victory.

- The Hall out-rebounded St. John's, 37-to-30, including a 14-to-9 edge on the offensive glass and an 16-to-5 advantage in second-chance points.
