LAST GAME
Graduate student Sidney Cooks (Kenosha, Wis.) had a team-high 20 points, but the Pirates fell at Creighton, 75-53, on Wednesday.
Â
The Pirates never led in this one as Creighton opened the game with a 9-2 spurt and never looked back. The Pirates finished the game without a made three-point field goal, while the Bluejays were 12-for-25 from downtown. It's only the second game The Hall has lost since the day after Thanksgiving.
Â
Cooks finished with a team-best 20 points on 9-for-17 shooting to go with six rebounds. Senior Lauren Park-Lane (Wilmington, Del.) was the lone other Pirate to reach double-figures in scoring. She finished with 14 to go with seven assists.

Earlier This Season:
#9 UConn 98, Seton Hall 73 (F) – December 21, 2022 (XL Center)
Â
EARLIER THIS YEAR AGAINST UCONN
Park-Lane became Seton Hall's all-time assist leader and Cooks had a team-high 18 points, but the Pirates fell to No. 9 Connecticut, 98-73, at the XL Center on December 21.
Â
Park-Lane entered the contest needing just two assists in her 100th career game to set the impressive career mark, and collected her second with a dish to Cooks with 13 seconds left to go before halftime.
Â
The Hall, winners of seven straight games entering the game, fell behind early by virtue of a 15-2 start by Connecticut, and never recovered as the Huskies led wire-to-wire.
Â
Cooks had 18 points on 8-for-15 shooting, which included a pair of made three-pointers. Park-Lane finished with 17 points and a team-high four assists.
Â
SCOUTING CONNECTICUT
Connecticut is coming off a spectacular 2021-22 campaign that saw a final record of 30-6 overall and a 16-1 mark in BIG EAST Conference play. The Huskies routed their way to the BIG EAST Championship before advancing to the NCAA Championship game where they fell to top-ranked South Carolina, 64-49.Â
Â
This year, the Huskies were again chosen as the unanimous favorite to win the BIG EAST Championship, according to the preseason coaches' poll. Forward Ayanna Patterson was selected as the BIG EAST Preseason Freshman of the Year. Aaliyah Edwards, Caroline Ducharme and Azzi Fudd were named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team while Dorka Juhász was tabbed as Honorable Mention.
Â
As advertised, UConn is off to another stellar start this season and enters Tuesday's contest as the No. X ranked team in the country with an overall record of 15-2 and a 8-0 mark in BIG EAST play. The Huskies have been successful despite suffering a rash of injuries. Connecticut has won eight in a row, and most recently, survived a small scare from Georgetown, winning 65-50 on Sunday after only having a 1-point lead at the half.Â
UP NEXT
Seton Hall will return to action on Sunday, Jan. 22, when it travels to BIG EAST rival Marquette. Tip time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. ET.  The contest will be televised nationally by FS1. Ryan Johnston and Jon Heite will describe the action for WSOU FM.
