
Fouratt Powers Pirates to Second Place at Sacred Heart Invite

All five Pirates in the starting lineup place in the Top-10 despite poor weather at Daytona.
DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. – Senior Sarah Fouratt (Santa Maria, Calif.) shot her second-consecutive 3-over-par, 75, to power the Seton Hall women's golf team to a second-place finish at the Sacred Heart Spring Invitational on Saturday.

Fouratt was the top Pirate for the tournament, placing fifth among 92 individual golfers with a 6-over-par, 75-75-150. The Pirate captain notched her fourth career top-5 finish.

Scores were up across the field as poor weather hampered play on Saturday. As a team, the Pirates shot a 20-over-par, 308, in round two, but it was actually the best round of the day. However, The Hall was only able to gain one stroke on Sacred Heart and ended up finishing second by four strokes. For the tournament, the Pirates were 28-over-par with a 296-308-604. They finished 17 strokes in front of third-place Lehigh.

Graduate student Margot Bechadergue (Aix-En-Provence) shot a 7-over-par, 79, in round two. For the tournament, she finished just one stroke behind Fouratt with a 7-over-par, 72-79-151. She tied for sixth place overall and collected her second top-10 finish as a Pirate.

Freshman Ana Sarrias Pro (Cadiz, Spain) fired a 5-over-par, 77, on Saturday to finish in a tie for eighth place. For the two-round event, she was 8-over-par with a 75-77-152.

Both Ludovica Busetto (Padova, Italy) and Ginevra Zavagli (Rome, Italy) tied for 10th overall at 9-over-par for the tournament. Busetto shot a 74-79-153, while Zavagli had a 76-77-153.

Participating as an individual, sophomore Sasha Amelang (Houston, Texas) finished with a 30-over-par, 83-91-174.

Since 1994, LPGA International's signature Rees Jones golf course is a favorite of the tour players. It is a traditional links style 7,088 yard design. While extremely playable for all skill levels, the ingenious and inventive player is rewarded with multiple options on nearly every shot.

In addition to Seton Hall and host Sacred Heart, the field was comprised of 12 other teams including: Eastern Illinois, Evansville, Fairfield, Hartford, Holy Cross, Lehigh, LIU, Merrimack, Mount St. Mary's, Purdue-Fort Wayne, Siena and St. Francis (Pa.).
