Gumerova and Kempinski Pick Up Singles Wins Friday at UConn

Manchester, Conn. - Sophomore Arina Gumerova and freshman Oliwia Kempinski picked up singles wins Friday in the Seton Hall women's tennis match at Connecticut, but the Pirates dropped the team result to the Huskies, 5-2, at the Magic Lincer Tennis Club.

Gumerova now has singles victories in two of her last three matches after overcoming Julianne Bou in a tiebreaking third set at No. 1 singles. Kempinski earned her third straight singles win and fourth of the season with a comeback victory over Doga Selen Takunyaci, losing the first set, 6-4, winning the second set 6-4 and then taking the tiebreaker, 10-8.

Seton Hall will return to action on Tuesday, April 13 when the Pirates host Fairleigh Dickinson at the Campus Courts at Ivy Hill Park at 2:30 p.m.
