
Pirates Come Up Just Short on Senior Day

Fairfield, Conn. - The Pirates narrowly fell to the Delaware Blue Hens on Saturday, 154-140 in Arthur E. Imperatore Natatorium. It was the final home meet for nine Pirate seniors: Jill Calocino (Maywood, N.J.), Clara Capone (West Hartford, Conn.), Jordan Decker (Mason, Ohio), Grace Endersby (Caldwell, N.J.), Theresa Hutton (Stony Point, N.Y.), Amanda Kilgallon (Bridgewater, N.J.), Sara Ouellette (Granby, Conn.), Elizabeth Sargent (Trumbull, Conn.) and Gabby Van Tassell (Staten Island, N.Y.).
The Pirates came put of the gate hot winning first two events of the day. In the 200 Medley Relay. Marianne Molloy (Toms River, N.J.), Decker, Sierra Cripps (Seymour, Conn.) and Marianne Molloy (Toms River, N.J.) combined to touch the wall in a time of 1:49.22.
Not to be outdone, the trio of Heidi Dickson (Greenwich, N.J.), Gabby Van Tassell (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Madeleine Bachand (Raleigh, N.C.) took first, second and third, respectively, in the 1000 Free.
Both Molloy and Cripps followed up their solid team start with some individual wins of their own. Molloy took first in both the 100 and 200 Backstrokes with times of 59.00 and 2:05.41. On the other side, Cripps paced the pool in both the 100 and 200 Flys with times of 58.22 and 2:05.97, respectively.
Diver, Taylor Jackson (Thornton, Colo.) also took first in both diving events scoring 253.73 in the 3 Mtr diving and 260.02 in the 1 Mtr. Jackson's score in the 1 Mtr dive put the Pirates up late in the afternoon after it was tied through 25 events.
The Pirates will return to action on Saturday, January 25 when they travel to Philadelphia, Penn., to take on La Salle at 3 p.m.
