
Pirates Suffer 4-3 Setback at NJIT

Newark, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's tennis team won three singles matchups, but could not keep pace with host NJIT on Friday night, falling to the Highlanders 4-3 at the Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreation Facility.
NJIT (7-1) won all three doubles flights to take an early 1-0 lead. The Pirates (4-3) responded with victories at the No. 2, No. 4, and No. 5 singles flights, but could not secure the come-from-behind victory.
At the second singles position, freshman Regina Pitts (Los Angeles, Calif.) registered a 0-6, 6-3, 6-4 comeback victory, while juniors Minja Gligic (Belgrade, Serbia) and Mekeila Erspamer (Long Beach, Calif.) picked up victories at the No. 4 and No. 5 flights.
Up next, the Pirates host Rutgers in a non-conference dual match on Sunday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. inside the Murray Hill Tennis & Fitness Center in New Providence.
