Â
Elmore was a force both offensively and defensively in a pair of Seton Hall routs last week to begin the 2019-20 season. The forward erupted for 20 points and matched her career-high with nine rebounds in the season-opener against Sacred Heart on Wednesday. She also had a career-high three blocks to go with three assists. On Saturday, Elmore recorded the first double-double of her career. She had game-highs of 18 points and 14 rebounds, while also dishing out three assists and recording a pair of steals. For the remarkable week, Elmore averaged 19.0 points and 11.5 rebounds per game and was nearly perfect, 11-for-12, from the free-throw line.
Â
LAST GAME
The Pirates held VCU without a three-pointer and only 27.5% from the field as they improved to 3-0 with a 53-33 victory over the Rams at historic Walsh Gymnasium on Tuesday. Seton Hall's stifling defense held VCU, the Atlantic 10 Conference preseason favorites, to just 33 points, the fewest by a Pirate opponent since they routed Stony Brook, 65-30, on Dec. 17, 2011.
Â
Offensively, senior Alexis Lewis (Pittston, Pa.) led all scorers with 13 points, which included three made three-pointers. Senior Shadeen Samuels (Ossining, N.Y.) had nine points to go with 11 rebounds. Junior Selena Philoxy (Queens, N.Y.) had a strong game, pulling down 11 rebounds in only 18 minutes off the bench.
