
Pirates Deliver 4-3 Victory at Villanova

Villanova, Pa. – The Seton Hall women's tennis team rebounded from a setback during doubles play with four singles wins to secure a 4-3 BIG EAST victory at Villanova on Saturday night.
Senior Luize Strike (Riga, Latvia) and junior Anicka Fajnorova (Bratislava, Slovakia) registered a 6-3 win at the top doubles flight, but the Pirates were edged 6-4 at the No. 2 spot and 7-5 at No. 3.
However, Seton Hall responded with a resilient effort during singles play. Fajnorova picked up a 6-2, 7-5 win over Lexi DeNucci at the No. 1 flight to set the tone for The Hall.
Junior Thandy Kangwa (Ft. Myers, Fla.) delivered a huge win at No. 3 with set scores of 6-4 and 7-5. Sophomore Michal Matson (St. Albans, New Zealand) won at the No. 4 spot, and senior Katie Kim came through with a clutch 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-1 victory in the No. 5 spot as Seton Hall secured the win.
Up next, the Pirates travel to Cincinnati to take on Xavier on Friday, April 20 at 3 p.m. before heading to Butler for a 10:30 a.m. match on April 21.
