Pirates Drop Heartbreaker at Xavier

Cincinnati, OHIO – The Seton Hall women's tennis team battled tough on Friday, but ultimately suffered a 4-3 defeat at Butler.

The sensational sophomore duo of Michal Matson (St. Albans, New Zealand) and Melody Taal (Ede, Netherlands) paired up for a 6-2 victory at the No. 3 doubles position. However, the Pirates were edged 6-4 at the top two flights, and surrendered the point.

Senior Luize Strike registered a 6-3, 6-4 win at the top singles flight, while Matson won at the No. 4 spot, and sophomore Anniek Jansen picked up a 6-4, 6-2 victory at the No. 6 spot.

The Pirates have a quick turn around and will square off with Butler in the BIG EAST and regular season finale in Indianapolis on Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m.
