SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's basketball team (11-8, 3-5 BIG EAST) got career days from Inja Butina (Zagreb, Croatia) and Kimi Evans (Jackson, N.J.) along with a Donnaizha Fountain (Roxbury, Mass.) double-double in a 70-65 win over Georgetown (7-10, 2-4 BIG EAST) on Sunday afternoon at Walsh Gymnasium. The victory marked the 400th win in the career of head coach Anthony Bozzella.
Butina went for 17 points and eight assists in the win, both high-marks this season for the junior transfer. Evans also set a pair of career-highs with 12 points and seven rebounds and hit a pair of clutch free throws in the final moments of regulation. Fountain notched her second-straight double with team-highs of 20 points and 10 rebounds.
The Hall led by seven at the break and was up 13 heading into the fourth quarter before a furious Georgetown rally in the final minutes of the closing stanza.
Turning Points
A pair of Fountain free throws with 2:41 to play gave The Hall a 63-53 lead, which appeared comfortable until the Hoyas reeled off a 10-2 run in 90 seconds of game time to get within a possession at 65-63. With 44.7 seconds to play, Evans snared a huge offensive rebound and was fouled on the way back up. The freshman, who was 0-3 from the line to that point, stepped up and knocked down both free throws to push the lead back to four at 67-63. Fountain hit two more free throws 20 seconds later to get the lead back to four in the waning moments and seal the win.
