MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Seton Hall women's basketball team (8-5, 0-2 BIG EAST) dropped a high-scoring road contest at Marquette (8-5, 2-0) by a score of 97-84 on Saturday night at the Al McGuire Center. The Hall shot 56.9 percent from the floor and set a program-record with 15 made 3-pointers in the conference setback.
The Pirates trailed by only three at the break after a white-hot shooting first half, but a slow start to the third quarter allowed MU to build its lead to 23 in third stanza. Despite its strong shooting day, The Hall committed 22 turnovers and forced only nine. Allazia Blockton led all scorers with 29 for MU, while Donnaizha Fountain paced SHU and led five Pirates in double-figures with 16.
Turning Points
Down by as many as 13 in the second quarter, The Hall ended the first half strong and got five-straight points from Kaela Hilaire (Queens, N.Y.) in the final minute of the frame to cut MU's lead to 50-47 at the half.
After shooting 70.4 percent in the first half, The Hall came out ice cold in the third quarter and saw Marquette score 19 of the first 21 points in the frame to balloon their lead to 69-49. Overall, MU held a 32-14 scoring edge in the third quarter to take a 21-point lead to the fourth. The Hall managed to out-score the Golden Eagles by eight in the fourth quarter, but the MU lead was too great to come all the way back.
