Pirates Fall To Fordham On Thursday Night
9/1/2016 9:51:00 PM | Women's Soccer
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's soccer team (2-2-0) had a two-game winning streak snapped with a 2-0 setback to Fordham (2-1-1) on Thursday night at Owen T. Carroll Field. The contest marked the second of a three-game homestand, with the Pirates back in South Orange on Sunday night.
The Rams scored goals in each half, tallying late in the first and early in the second to build their two-goal advantage. In a tightly contested defensive struggle throughout, the two squads combined for only 10 shots over 90 minutes.
Turning Point
After 43 minutes of scoreless action, the Rams took advantage of a fortuitous bounce to break the deadlock and take a 1-0 lead. A long ball from Rachel Collage was deflected by a Seton Hall defender but rolled right to Sydney White, who lobbed a volley from outside the area into the back of the net. The Rams would double their lead 10 minutes into the second half in the eventual 2-0 win.
