The Hall Falls At Providence On Sunday
10/23/2016 3:16:00 PM | Women's Soccer
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Seton Hall women's soccer team (5-10-1, 1-7-0 BIG EAST) dropped its penultimate match of the season on Sunday afternoon by a score of 1-0 at Providence (11-5-2, 5-2-1). The Hall will conclude the regular season on Friday afternoon at Villanova.
Anna MacLean (Thunder Bay, Ontario) made seven saves for The Hall in the setback, but a late first half goal for the Friars proved to be the difference. Frankie Maier (Oradell, N.J.) led the Pirates with three of their eight shots on the afternoon, including a pair on goal.
Turning Point
After more than a half hour of evenly-matched scoreless action, Providence broke the ice with a Madison Doherty goal in the 38th minute. Hannah Wear started the scoring play with a long through-ball toward the box, drawing MacLean off her line for a race to the ball with Doherty. It was PC's Doherty that reached the pass a split-second ahead, walking in alone and finishing into the unoccupied cage.
