
Harper Named Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar

NORMAN, OKLA. - Seton Hall's J.T. Harper (Pebble Beach, Calif.) was named a 2014 Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar.
A total of 207 players in Division I, 75 in Division II and 11 in NAIA earned the honor. Additionally, 46 honorees were added to the previously released Division III Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars. To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 77.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
Harper has started all 15 tournaments for Seton Hall since joining the team as a mid-year transfer during the 2012-13 academic year. The rising senior took his game to a new level last year, averaging 75.20 strokes per round, second-best on the team. Harper recorded two sub-par rounds in 2014, including a career-best 3-under-par, 69, in the third round of the Rutherford Intercollegiate. He tied for 11th at the highly-competitive event with a 5-over-par, 76-73-69-218 for the three-round tournament. Harper closed out the season with a 12-over-par, 14th place tie at the 2014 BIG EAST Championship.
Harper and the rest of the Pirates will return to the links when the fall season opens on August 31 for the first of three rounds at the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate in Verona, N.Y.
