RALEIGH, N.C. - The Seton Hall men's golf team will return to the links on Monday and Tuesday with three rounds at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate, at Lonnie Poole Golf Course, hosted by North Carolina State University.
The fifth annual Wolfpack Intercollegiate will be played at the par-72, 7,358-yard Laurel Hills Golf Club. The stunning layout has been designed by Arnold Palmer and the design team at Arnold Palmer Design Company (including Erik Larsen and Brandon Johnson, both NC State graduates). With breathtaking views of the Raleigh skyline and the award winning Centennial Campus, the golf course has become a favorite in the golf community. The course has unique features that set it apart from other courses in the region. It represents the evolution in golf course architecture towards sustainability; a golf course that fits into and protects the natural environment. As with Bethpage Black, Bandon Dunes, Whistling Straits, and Pine Valley, it leans heavily on traditional Scottish designs while accommodating the natural landscape.
In addition to Seton Hall and two teams from N.C. State, the 18-team field also includes Boston College, Bowling Green, Campbell, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, Georgia Southern, George Washington, Lipscomb, Loyola (Md.), Rhode Island, Temple, UNC-Greensboro, USC-Upstate, Western Carolina and Wofford.
Seton Hall is coming off its third top-5 finish of the fall with a fourth place showing at the Patriot Intercollegiate last weekend. Sophomore Lloyd Jefferson Go (Guadalupe Cebu City, Philippines) fired a 2-under-par, 69, in Monday's final round. Go's last two stellar rounds enabled him to finish the three-round event in a tie for 11th place among 104 golfers at 2-over-par with a 75-71-69-215.
Collectively, Seton Hall finished with a 14-over-par, 290-290-286-866, 15 strokes behind the team champion, Missouri, which was the lone team to shoot under-par for the tournament (-1). Marshall finished second at 2-over-par, while James Madison placed third at 9-pver-par. The Pirates downed their lone BIG EAST competitor in the event. Villanova finished in 12th place, 28 strokes behind The Hall.
JT Harper (Pebble Beach, Calif.) collected his second straight top-10 placement with the help of a strong finish. Harper fired a 1-under-par, 70, on Monday to complete the event at 1-over-par with a 70-74-70-214. He tied for ninth to lead all Pirates.
This week, head coach Clay White will bring Go, Harper, Ryan Snouffer (Sparta, N.J.), Kevin O'Brien (Wexford, Pa.) and Cory Wilson (Newton, N.J.) to Raleigh for the Wolfpack Intercollegiate.
The field will play two rounds on Monday and a final 18 holes on Tuesday. Complete results of each day's events will be available at SHUpirates.com.
