LEMONT, ILL. - The Seton Hall men's golf team will return to the links this Saturday for three rounds of golf as part of the 2013 John Dallio Memorial Tournament at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club.
Seton Hall will be among a field of 11 teams taking on the par-72, 6,898-yard course, which also includes Chicago State, DePaul, Eastern Illinois, Green Bay, IUPUI, Loyola, Missouri State, Northern Iowa, SIUE and Valparaiso.
Located in historic Lemont, IL, just 30 minutes from downtown Chicago, Ruffled Feathers is a course whose aesthetic beauty is matched only by the genius of its layout. Ruffled Feathers is the only Pete and P.B. Dye designed golf course in Chicagoland. A championship caliber, well-conditioned golf course is one of the best group of par 3's in the state of Illinois. Ruffled Feathers has been hailed with Best New Course accolades from both Golf Digest and Golfweek magazines. In 2010, the course was recognized by Golf.Com as one of the Best Public Courses in the State of Illinois.
Seton Hall hasn't competed in this event since 2008, so every golfer in the Pirates' lineup will be new to the tournament. The Pirates placed eighth among 15 teams the last time they were at Ruffled Feathers. Troy Spencer shot 4-over-par to finish tied for 18th overall in leading the Pirates.
This year, the Pirates will bring freshman Lloyd Jefferson Go (Guadalupe Cebu City, Philippines, juniors JT Harper (Pebble Beach, Calif.) and Derrick Kim (New City, N.Y.), and sophomores Cory Wilson (Newton, N.J.) and David Cha (Carrollton, Texas). Freshman Kevin O'Brien (Wexford, Pa.) will also compete as an individual.
Seton Hall is coming off a strong showing at the Hartford Hawks Invitational last earlier this week. The Pirates fired a 51-over-par, 304-306-305-915, to finish ninth among 17 teams. Go had the lowest score for Seton Hall for a third straight tournament to begin the fall. The freshman tied for 14th among 96 individual golfers with a 7-over-par, 75-74-74-223. In Clay White's 10-year tenure as head coach of the program, no freshman has led Seton Hall in his first three career tournaments until Go arrived.
