SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Seton Hall senior golfer John Dawson Neufeld (Calgary, Canada) was named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District 2 Men's At-Large First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Neufeld adds another academic accomplishment to an already impressive collegiate ledger. Earlier this year, he was named Seton Hall's Senior Scholar-Athlete and is expecting his second straight appointment to the BIG EAST Academic All-Star Team. A Political Science major, Neufeld has maintained an impressive 3.92 grade point average since transferring to Seton Hall prior to the 2010-11 academic year.
On the course, Neufeld saved his finest season for last. His 73.57 stroke average led the Pirates during the spring season and his 2-under-par, 73-70-71-214, at the Rio Pinar Invitational was the lowest score against par of any Pirate for a spring tournament. Neufeld had three top-10 finishes this year, including an even-par fifth place showing at the Fireline Towson Invitational. During that event, he shot a 5-under-par, 67, in the second round, the lowest single round for any Pirate during the 2011-12 year.
