APALACHIN, N.Y. - Cory Wilson (Newton, N.J.) fired a 2-over-par, 74, to pace the Seton Hall men's golf team to a ninth place standing after round one of the 2012 Binghamton University Invitational.
Collectively, the Pirates shot a 22-over-par, 310, in round one and trail the team leader, Lavar University by 19 strokes with one round remaining. Seton Hall is the lone BIG EAST team in the field of 16 teams, which includes two squads from the host, Binghamton.
Wilson's 74 matches the low round of his young collegiate career and ties him for 13th place among a field of 79 golfers. The freshman trails the individual leader, Ujo Coussaud of Laval University, by six strokes. Only three individual golfers shot better than par on Sunday and two were from Laval.
Sophomore Derrick Kim (New City, N.Y.) is only two strokes behind Wilson and is tied for 25th place overall following a 4-over-par, 76.
Walk-on Kevin Sanislo made his Seton Hall debut this weekend in Apalachin, N.Y. He golfed well enough for third on the Pirates with a 7-over-par, 79.
Freshman David Cha (Carrollton, Texas) shot a 9-over-par, 81, while Marc Kunesch (Newton, N.J.) rounded out the scoring for Seton Hall with a 13-over-par, 85.
