Lally Fuels Pirates on Day 1 at Wildcat Invitational

GALLOWAY, N.J. – Senior David Lally (Wicklow, Ireland) is 5-over-par and tied for fourth overall after 36 holes and has the Seton Hall men's golf team in fourth place of the Wildcat Spring Invitational entering Tuesday's final round.

Lally started with a 3-over-par, 74, in the first round, and was a stroke better in the afternoon. The senior had four birdies in route to a 2-over-par, 73, in round two. For the tournament, Lally is tied for fourth among 72 individual golfers with a 5-over-par, 74-73-147. Villanova's Ryan Palmer is currently the individual leader, just two strokes ahead of Lally.

As a team, The Hall shot a 14-over-par, 298, in round one, followed by a 12-over-par, 296, in round two. The Pirates are currently tied for fourth with Rhode Island with a 26-over-par, 298-296-594. Seton Hall's two BIG EAST opponents in the field sit one, two in the team field. Host Villanova currently has a three-stroke lead on Georgetown at 16-over-par with 18 holes remaining.

Seton Hall's freshmen Blake Goodnight (Dallas, Texas) and Jace Hulett (Boerne, Texas) are currently tied for eighth place at 6-over-par. Goodnight opened the tournament with a 2-over-par, 73, and followed it up with a 4-over-par, 75, in round two. He had seven birdies on the day. Hulett had an eagle on the par-5, No. 16 hole in round one to fuel a 5-over-par, 76. In the afternoon, he shaved off four strokes to finish with an impressive 1-over-par, 72.Â

Sophomore Will Hennessee (Tulsa, Okla.) opened with a 4-over-par, 75, and finished with a 5-over-par, 76. He's currently tied for 28th place with a 9-over-par, 75-76-151.

Rounding out the Seton Hall lineup, junior Eli Shah (Newtown Square, Pa.) is 17-over-par with a 79-80-159.

Two Pirates are competing as individuals at Galloway National. After a disappointing opening round, sophomore Luke Nolan (Austin, Texas) used four birdies to fuel a sparkling 1-over-par, 72, in the afternoon. He's currently 10-over-par with an 80-72-152. Isaiah Williams (Flemington, N.J.) had four birdies on the day and is 12-over-par following a 76-78-154.

The field will play two continuous rounds on Monday, and one final round on Tuesday, with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. ET each day. The Hall will be paired with golfers from Colgate, LIU and Villanova in round one starting on tees No. 1 through No. 5.
