PITTSBURGH – Junior Will Hennessee (Tulsa, Okla.) shot a remarkable 7-under-par, 64, Tuesday to lift the Seton Hall men's golf team to a third-place finish at the RedHawk Invitational.

Hennessee had a staggering nine birdies to go with seven pars to fuel his career low round. The effort is tied for the second-most strokes under par for a single round in program history and the most since Lloyd Jefferson Go shot a 64 at the par-71 Rutherford Intercollegiate on April 16, 2017.

Hennessee went from being tied for 36^th place after two rounds, to a seventh-place finish with a 5-under-par, 72-72-64-208. It's his fifth career top-10 finish and second straight to begin the 2026-27 year. It's also Hennessee's seventh sub-par tournament, which ties him for seventh-most in a career at Seton Hall.

Butler's Nicolas Brooks and Oakland's Robert Burns tied for the individual title at 9-under-par.

As a team, The Hall rocketed up the team leader board on Tuesday thanks to the top round in the field, a 7-under-par, 277. It's the second-lowest par-71 team round in program history and enabled the Pirates to go from eighth place after 36 holes to a third-place finish. For the tournament, Seton Hall was 6-under-par with a 283-286-277-846.

VCU won the team title at 15-under-par, while BIG EAST opponent Butler finished in second at 8-under.

Seton Hall's 846 is the second-lowest three-round, par-71 score in team history and its 27^th sub-par tournament all-time.

Senior Jacob De Jesus (Bridgewater, N.J.) turned in his third consecutive impressive round, using three birdies and 13 pars to fuel a 1-under-par, 70, on Tuesday. For the tournament, he tied for 12^th place with a 2-under-par, 70-71-70-211, his second-consecutive sub-par event to begin his Seton Hall career.

Sophomore Blake Goodnight (Dallas, Texas) had two birdies and 13 pars to power a 1-over-par, 71, in round three. He tied for 20^th in Pittsburgh with a 1-over-par, 71-71-72-214.

Freshman Dylan Holmes (Wicklow, Ireland) turned in his best round of the tournament on Tuesday. The Pirates' newcomer had three birdies and 12 pars in route to an even-par, 71. For RedHawk Invitational, Holmes was 5-over-par with a 75-72-71-218.

Finishing only one stroke behind Holmes, junior Luke Nolan (Austin, Texas) shot a 6-over-par, 77, in round three. For the tournament, he was 6-over-par with a 70-72-77-219.

Competing as an individual, Isaiah Williams (Flemington, N.J.) wrapped up his tournament with a 3-over-par, 74. For the event, he tied for 30^th with a 3-over-par, 75-67-74-218.

THE COURSE:
What started as a three hole course on the H.C. Frick property in 1895, to today's 18 hole layout complete with unparalleled practice facilities and course conditions, the story of golf at the Pittsburgh Field Club is ever changing.

The original design of the golf course at its present day location was done by Alexander H. Findlay and was constructed by Fred Pickering. Many of the original holes or parts of the original holes are still in use today; however, some of his original holes like the 600 yard par 6 #12 played to an island green followed by "Gibraltar", a 165 yard par 3 with its green perched on top of a sharp cliff have gone away.

Since that time, the golf course and property have undergone numerous changes. Properties were purchased that are now the practice area as well as the current #11 and #12 holes. Modifications to the golf course have been done by Donald Ross, Albert (A.W.) Tillinghast, Willie Park Jr., Emil Loeffler & John McGlynn, Robert Trent Jones, Arthur Hills, Craig Schreiner, Tripp Davis, and Keith Foster which have created the layout that exists today.

THE FIELD:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Miami (Ohio), the field included 13 other schools: Ball State, Bowling Green State, Cleveland State, Dayton, LSU, Loyola (Md.), Notre Dame, Oakland, Ohio University, Richmond, Robert Morris and VCU. Fellow BIG EAST opponent, Butler, is also in the field.

THE FORMAT:
Teams played five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

UP NEXT:
Seton Hall will return to tournament play with three rounds of golf at the MacDonald Cup in New Haven, Conn., Sept. 26-27, hosted by Yale University.
