
Pirates Begin Play at Sweetens Cove, Monday

The Hall will play three matches over three days beginning with a match against Bowling Green on Monday.
SOUTH PITTSBURG, TENN. – The Seton Hall men's golf team will play three rounds of golf at the Sweetens Cove Intercollegiate, a match-play tournament, March 23-25. The Hall claimed a share of the event last season, tying host Miami (Ohio) in the title match.

Seton Hall is the No. 2 seed in the eight-team match-play event. It will face the No. 7 seed Bowling Green in the first round on Monday. The Hall will then play either No. 3 Queens University or #6 Belmont on Tuesday, before playing one final match on Wednesday.

THE COURSE:
Welcome to the foothills of the Sequatchie Valley, adjacent to Battle Creek in South Pittsburg, Tennessee. Sweetens Cove Golf Club is a public golf course located 30 minutes from Chattanooga in the central time zone.

The course itself presents an entirely unique golfing experience in the Southeastern region of the United States in that it was conceived, designed, and built as an inland links course. Borrowing architectural inspiration from some of the game's greatest layouts, King-Collins crafted a course that is reminiscent of the original version of Augusta National according to renowned golf writer and historian, Anthony Pioppi. In his definitive account of nine-hole golf courses, To The Nines, he wrote, "Sweetens Cove…harkens back to one of the most influential golf courses ever built in the United States [Augusta National]….Collins and his partner, [Tad] King, have embraced the original MacKenzie-Jones tenets with gusto. Writing about Augusta then, MacKenzie could have been describing Sweetens today."

THE FIELD:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Miami (Ohio), the field included six other teams including:Â Belmont, Bowling Green State, Northern Kentucky, Ohio University, Queens University and Wright State.

THE FORMAT:
Eight teams are playing in a match play tournament. Six golfers will play in each match for each team.

THE LINEUP:
Senior Jack Bosworth (Daniel Island, S.C.) matched his career-best round with a 5-under-par, 67, in round three to lift the Pirates to an eighth-place finish at the 2026 Loyola Intercollegiate on Feb 17.

Bosworth was brilliant in round three, using four birdies and an eagle on the par-5, No. 2 hole to power his monster round. For the tournament, he tied for 63rd place with a 2-over-par, 75-76-67-218.Â

As a team, The Hall shot it's third sub-par round of the tournament, again finishing with a 4-under-par, 284. It finished in a tie for eighth place with Northern Colorado at 10-under-par for the tournament. For the three-round event, the Pirates shot a 286-284-284-854. It's Seton Hall's fourth sub-par tournament in six events so far during the 2025-26 year, and the 25th sub-par tournament in program history.

Sophomore Will Hennessee (Tulsa, Okla.) was the top Seton Hall golfer for the tournament. On Tuesday, he had three birdies and also eagled the par-5, No. 2 hole in route to a 1-over-par, 73. For the 54-hole event, he tied for 30th place among 119 golfers with a 2-under-par, 71-70-73-214. It's Hennessee's fourth career sub-par tournament.

LAST TIME OUT:
Sophomore Luke Nolan (Austin, Texas) shot a 2-under-par, 69, in the final round to lift the Seton Hall men's golf team to a ninth-place finish at the 2026 Bandon Dunes Championship on March 10.

Nolan had four birdies, and the highlight of his young collegiate career, a hole-in-one on the par-3, No. 11 hole to power his team-best round. The effort rocketed him up the final individual leaderboard to a tie for 35th place with a 4-over-par, 74-74-69-217.Â

As a team, The Hall had its best collective round of the tournament on in round three, a 3-over-par, 287. For the three-day event, the Pirates placed ninth in the uber-competitive field with a 16-over-par, 288-293-287-868. The top Seton Hall performer for the tournament was Will Hennessee (Tulsa, Okla.), who was playing as an individual. For the tournament, he tied for 18th place in the field of 96 individual golfers with a 1-under-par, 72-68-72-212.

The Pirates faced off against Miami (Ohio) in the championship match of the 2025 Sweetens Cove Intercollegiate, the teams played to a tie and were branded co-champions. Eli Shah (Newtown Square, Pa.) and Patrick Kahanek won all three of their matches during the week to fuel the Pirates.

The Hall got to the title round after edging Austin Peay State in a tie breaker after a 3-3 score. The opening round of the tournament saw Seton Hall defeat Northern Kentucky, 5-1.Â
