- The Pirates hosted the Sacred Heart Pioneers on Thursday night in the Battle for SHUpremacy at Owen T. Carroll Field.
- After a quite scoreless first half, the Pirates got on the board first thanks to Aidan Tisony's first career goal and a beautiful Til Kauschke assist. Sacred Heart quickly responded, though, to even the game at 1-1.

- A red card on the Pioneers keeper put the visitors down to ten men and the Pirates took advantage. Hugo Gerbore connected on a free kick to put the Pirates up 2-1. Sacred Heart would respond quickly with a corner kick goal to even things up at 2-2, ending the match in a draw not long after.
- FDU is 3-1-2 on the season after falling to St. John's 1-0 last time out.
- This season, the Pioneers were picked to finish third in the NEC, while also collecting two first-place votes.
- After a 2024 season that saw the Knights land the No. 1 seed in the NEC Tournament, they came back for the 2025 season with plenty of returning stars from that roster. Among the returners are All-NEC First Team defender NK Tima, All-NEC Second Team Selections forward Matt Giraldo and defender Jeffery Marquez, and a pair of NEC All-Rookie Team selections: defender Dominic Valenzuela and forward Alex Ferenac.
- While FDU starts a pair of goalies, one of them is a familiar face to the Pirates faithful. Junior keeper Matheus Franca was a backup in South Orange before transferring to FDU over the summer. In three starts and 253 minutes played this season, Franca has a 0.79 GAA with 10 saves and a 2-1-1 record.
- This will be the 34th all-time matchup against FDU, with the first meeting dating back to 1954.
- The Pirates hold a 16-13-4 record all-time against the Knights, with the last matchup between the two teams occurring in 2022.
- That match ended in a 1-0 victory for the Pirates. Â
- After collecting All-BIG EAST Second Team honors last season in his first full season as a starter, senior Agustin Resch (Arata, Argentina) was named BIG EAST Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and was unanimously selected to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team.
- Last year, in 1450 minutes played, Resch served as a central part of a Pirates' defense that ranked top 30 nationally in both goals allowed average (1.000) and shutout percentage (.444), earning the then-junior an All-BIG EAST Second Team selection at season's end.
- This was the first Preseason All-BIG EAST selection for the Pirates since CJ Tibbling and Luca Dahn in 2021, as well as the first Preseason Defensive Player of the Year since Dahn that same season.
