Pirates Draw Sacred Heart in Foul-Filled SHUpremacy Battle

Despite lodging a few shots in the opening half, neither team was able to find any offensive momentum to break the draw. An explosive second half featuring a torrent of cards, set pieces, goals and a red card brought this match down to the wire. The Pirates earned a free kick in a dangerous area in the final seconds of the match, but could not strike it between the posts to break the 2-2 tie.
With the draw, The Hall moves to 1-1-3 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Despite a few strong shots from Til Kauschke, the first half for both teams was mired in the weeds of possession and defensive pressure. Both sides sat on the ball for large portions of the opening half, trading 14 fouls in the opening 45 minutes on the way to a 0-0 draw at the halftime break.
Out of the break, the Pirates were on the attack early, forcing two saves inside the first five minutes of the half. Those shots would matter, however, when the Pirates broke through in the 61st minute. From outside the box, Kauschke sent in a beautiful ball that a leaping Aidan Tisony sent past the Sacred Heart keeper to go up 1-0.
After that momentous surge, the Pirates' defense looked to sit on the ball and bleed out the clock. However, in the 77th minute, Sacred Heart scored to even things at 1-1. Despite the game now being even, The Hall's offense launched into attack mode immediately. After a red card sent the Pioneer's keeper to the bench and put the team down to ten men, Hugo Gerbore laced the ensuing free kick to the top right corner, putting Seton Hall back in front 2-1.61' | Hall 1 - 0 Sacred Heart

Now holding a lead and a man advantage with 15 minutes remaining, The Hall needed to hold on for only a little longer to collect a win. However, in the 81st minute, off the second of two corner kicks, Sacred Heart sent another ball sailing into the net with less than ten minutes remaining in this clash.what theeee 🫢#HALLin🔵⚪️ pic.twitter.com/RQgGXjngcy

Both sides continued to push in the final minutes, but a tiebreaker seemed far away for both sides. After six yellow cards were exchanged with 16 seconds remaining following an incident, the Pirates launched an offensive surge. A foul just outside the box with four seconds remaining would provide the Pirates with one final set-piece chance to secure a win. The ball was saved over the crossbar, however, ending the match in a 2-2 draw.
