NASHVILLE – Three Pirates collected double-doubles, but the Seton Hall women's volleyball team dropped its first match of the 2025 season, a 3-1 loss at Belmont on Saturday night.
Â
The Hall won its fourth straight set to start the season with a convincing 25-18 victory in set one, but Belmont rallied and won the final three sets of the match. In the fourth set, the Pirates led 22-18, but the Bruins closed out the set with an 8-2 run.
Â
Junior Senna Roberts-Navarro (Honolulu, Hi.) had a match-high 15 kills to go with a .308 attack percentage and 13 digs. Freshman Emilee Fuller (Louisville, Ky.) finished with a team-high 24 assists along with 10 digs, while Sadie Reich (Wantagh, N.Y.) tallied 11 kills and 10 digs.
Â
SET 1:
With the score tied at three early in set one, the Pirates scored three in a row and never relinquished the lead. Up 16-13, The Hall went on a 6-1 run, receiving kills from four different Pirates, to grab a commanding 22-14 advantage. A kill by Reich was the game-winning point in a 25-18 victory in set one. Roberts-Navarro had four kills and four digs in set one alone.
Â
SET 2:
Whereas Seton Hall dominated the opening set, set two was a back-and-forth battle that featured 16 ties. Neither team had a lead of greater than two points until Belmont scored four straight to take a 22-18 lead. The Hall responded with four points in a row to tie the set at 22, but the Bruins scored the final three points and sent the Pirates to their first set loss of the season. The Hall's offense attacked at only a .114 clip in set two.
Â
SET 3:
Belmont scored seven of the first eight points in set three and controlled the tone from the start. A kill by Reich cut The Hall's deficit to 12-6, but Belmont answered with four straight points to take a commanding 16-6 lead and send the Pirates to a time out. Trailing 20-11, Seton Hall went on an 8-1 run to close its deficit to 21-19. The Bruins, however, were able to stem The Hall's momentum and closed out a 25-21 third set win.
Â
SET 4:
With the set tied at 14, Seton Hall scored five straight points, and a solo block by Maddy Loiselle (Tampa, Fla.) gave The Hall a 19-14 lead and sent the Bruins to a time out. Belmont had a final burst in them, however, and trailing 22-18, closed out the match with an 8-2 run. A kill by Daria Safian (Moscow, Russia) put The Hall in set point, 24-23, but the Bruins scored the next three points.
