CINCINNATI, OHIO – Juniors Alondra Villanueva (Lima, Peru) and Gwen Adler (Barrington, Ill.) collected double-doubles, but the Seton Hall women's volleyball team fell at Xavier, 3-1 (15-25, 25-23, 18-25, 15-25), on Friday.

The Hall again showed its ability to respond to an early deficit, but had little left in the tank for sets three and four.

Villanueva finished with a team-high 14 kills to go with 10 digs, while Adler had a team-high 24 assists and 10 digs. Sophomore Emilee Fuller (Louisville, Ky.) nearly had a double-double, finishing with nine digs and eight assists.

Senior Loukia Papadakos (Stoufville, Ontario) had a career-high nine kills, only three attack errors, a .353 attack percentage and four blocks.

SET 1:
Seton Hall never led in the opening set, and a 6-1 Xavier spurt gave the Musketeers a 12-5 lead. A kill by Daria Safian (Moscow, Russia) cut The Hall's deficit to 15-9, but Xavier responded with a 6-2 burst to grab a commanding 21-12 advantage. Xavier went on to win the opening set, 25-15, thanks largely to a .400 attack percentage.

SET 2:
A Xavier service error tied the score at seven early in set two, but the Musketeers then went on a 9-2 to grab a 16-9 lead. Seton Hall answered with a 5-0 burst to cut its deficit to 16-14. Xavier scored four of the next five points to extend to a 20-15 lead and force a Seton Hall timeout. The Hall returned the favor with an 8-1 run, and a kill by Villanueva gave it a 23-22 lead. A Xavier kill tied the set at 23, but a kill by Villanueva put The Hall in set point, and a Musketeers' attack error gave it a 25-23 set two victory.

SET 3:
Xavier scored six of the first eight points of the third set to grab an early lead. The Hall cut its deficit to 12-9, but the Musketeers rebounded with five straight points to take a commanding 17-9 lead. Out of a timeout, the Pirates scored four of the next five points, and a kill by Papadakos cut their deficit to 20-15. Xavier regrouped, however, and went on to win the third set, 25-18.

SET 4:
The Musketeers led the fourth set wire-to-wire, jumping out to a 12-3 lead. A kill by Samantha Shelton (Oak Park, Ill.) cut The Hall's deficit to 16-10, but Xavier answered with a 6-1 run to take a commanding 22-11 lead. The Musketeers went on to win the match with a 25-15 set four victory. Xavier had a .419 attack percentage in the final set, compared to just .122 for Seton Hall.
