- Lafayette finished 8-6-4 last season with a 3-4-2 record in the conference play. Against common opponents, the Leopards had a 2-1-1 record.
- This season, they return four of the top five players in minutes played for them last season, including assists leader Beaux Lizewski. Lafayette's leading goal scorer from last season, Roy Biegon, also returns.
- Senior Eric Axtman is the lone returning goalie from last season's Leopards roster. In the five games he started, Axtman recorded a 1.80 GAA with 17 saves and a 4-1-0 record.
- Seton Hall and Lafayette last met in 1961 in a match that saw the Pirates come out on top with a 6-0 win over the Leopards.
- The 64-year gap is tied, with Saint Joseph's, for the fifth-longest gap between matchups against currently active DI opponents. The only longer droughts currently are High Point and Davidson (1939, 86 years), in addition to Siena Howard (1950, 75 years)
- This is the 12th matchup between the two programs, the first of which came in 1947.
- Seton Hall is 7-2-2 all-time against the Leopards.
- Entering his eighth season at The Hall, Head Coach Andreas Lindberg is 6-0-1 in home openers during his tenure.
- The lone draw coming in a 0-0 draw against Temple in the 2021 home opener.
- In home openers under Lindberg's leadership, the Pirates have outscored their opposition 16-1, with the only goal allowed occurring last year in The Hall's 2-1 win over UAlbany.
- After collecting All-BIG EAST Second Team honors last season in his first full season as a starter, senior Agustin Resch (Arata, Argentina) was named BIG EAST Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and was unanimously selected to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team.
- Last year, in 1450 minutes played, Resch served as a central part of a Pirates' defense that ranked top 30 nationally in both goals allowed average (1.000) and shutout percentage (.444), earning the then-junior an All-BIG EAST Second Team selection at season's end.
- This was the first Preseason All-BIG EAST selection for the Pirates since CJ Tibbling and Luca Dahn in 2021, as well as the first Preseason Defensive Player of the Year since Dahn that same season.
