The Hall Takes on Georgia State Invite This Week
3/23/2025 10:00:00 AM | Women's Golf
JOHNS CREEK, GA. – The Seton Hall women's golf team will return to action on March 24-25 for three rounds of golf at the Georgia State Spring Invitational at Rivermont Golf Club.
Â
Tournament Details:
GEORGIA STATE INVITATIONAL
Host:Â Georgia State University
Location:Â Johns Creek, Ga.
Course:Â Rivermont Golf Club
Course Vitals:Â Par-72, 5,945 yards
Dates:Â March 24-25, 2025
Â
THE COURSE:
Rivermont's centerpiece is the Championship 18-Hole Golf Course originally designed by Joe Lee which underwent a complete re-design by golf course designer, Michael Riley in 2006. The improvements transformed what was already an excellent layout and course into one of the most critically acclaimed courses in Georgia today. Over the last forty-seven years the course has maintained the integrity and beauty of the natural environment and continues to challenge to the low handicapper as well as the new player. Continued improvements over the years, specifically in 2015-2016 and 2019-2020 have helped elevate Rivermont's reputation among golfers both locally and even nationally.
Â
Rivermont has been honored to host nearly thirty qualifiers for the United States Golf Association (local qualifying for the US Open and sectional qualifying for the US Senior Open, the US Mid-Amateur, the US Women's Mid-Amateur and the Men's Four-Ball Championship) as well as more than a dozen Atlanta Amateur Championships for the Georgia State Golf Association. We have also hosted events for the Georgia Section of the PGA, the Atlanta Junior Golf Association and the Southern Golf Association. In 2018, Rivermont hosted the Georgia State Golf Association Junior Championship in June and in 2019 Rivermont Golf Club received an award as the "Best Golf Club" in Johns Creek. In 2023, Rivermont will host the Georgia State Amateur Championship.
Â
THE FIELD
In addition to Seton Hall and host Georgia State, the field is comprised of 13 other teams including: Akron, Ball State, Boston University, Bowling Green State, Idaho, Lindsey Wilson College, Loyola Chicago, Murray State, Queens University of Charlotte, Palm Beach State, Saint Leo University, Truett McConnell University and West Georgia.
Â
THE FORMAT
Teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.
Â
THE LINEUP
Seton Hall will be bringing the following lineup to Georgia:
Freshman Marta Aguilar (Casares Malaga, Spain) shot a tournament-best 1-under-par, 71, to vault up the leaderboard and win the individual title of the Northern Kentucky Invitational on March 9.
Â
Aguilar had three birdies and 14 pars in a dazzling second round to claim her second collegiate individual title by one stroke. She completed the tournament at 6-over-par with a 79-71-150. This is her second individual championship in only seven collegiate tournaments.Â
Â
As a team, the Pirates rebounded dramatically on Tuesday after a disappointing first-round performance. The Hall fired a 9-over-par, 297, in round two, which was the best single team round for any team in the field. The effort shot The Hall up the leader board to second place, finishing three strokes behind the team champion, St. John's. For the tournament, The Hall was 44-over-par with a 323-297-620.Â
Â
TEE TIMES
The field will play two continuous rounds on Monday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. On Tuesday, there will be one final round, also with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Seton Hall will be paired with golfers from Murray State and Queens University in the first two rounds.
